BAROQUE À PRANGINS

About the project

At the initiative of Mr. Igor Diakoff member of the Municipality, in association with the rest of his colleagues, and in collaboration with Mrs. Marijana Mijanović, a world-renowned classical singer, an event based on Baroque music, Baroque À Prangins, is being created for the first time in Prangins. This new cultural project aims not only to highlight Baroque art, but also to pass on unique expertise to young professional classical talents. It also aspires to forge links between the different members of our community.

Becoming an opera singer requires not only excellent singing technique but also the acquisition of a varied repertoire. Furthermore, beyond vocal and musical mastery, the singer needs a solid experience of stage acting, just like an actor. Understanding the character one is interpreting is essential in making the audience believe in it and thus arousing and communicating emotions to them. Through the knowledge of professionals - experts in the baroque style with many years of experience in acting and directing – this valuable knowledge will be transmitted to the young singers present. After a selection process, they will have the privilege of working with Marijana Mijanović on vocals, Kateryna Sokolova on stage direction, accompanied by Dušan Toroman on harpsichord. The singers participating in the Masterclass will benefit from the know-how of experienced artists who analyze and accurately reflect back to them what they are communicating to the audience. An informed professional eye will allow them to feel and experience what their body language, their eyes and their voice convey both as a message and emotionally. In this day and age, where the professional world is in demand for artists who possess this mastery, Baroque À Prangins is a great experience for any young singer who wishes to embark on this meaningful and exciting career with success.

The Masterclass teaching days are open to the public. They are a unique opportunity to attend an artistic work of high quality. Being able to follow the creative process offers the spectators an opportunity to immerse themselves in an art form and to be sensitized and touched by a work of art.

The initial intention to involve the Prangins community in all stages of the project's development has been realized through the voluntary contributions of the various skills of our fellow citizens. Hosting of the artists, creating the website, publicizing the project Baroque À Prangins, among other tasks, are the result of the coming together of qualities and know-how present in our Prangins community.
